I try to introduce a general Japanese education system.

All Japanese children attend elementary school for six years at the age of six.
After graduation from elementary school, students go to junior high school for three years.
Elementary school and junior high school are compulsory education.

Most students go on to high school for three years.
Some students go on to technical college for five or six years.
High school and technical college require them to take the entrance examination.
Students can graduate from high school or technical college if they have collected enough credits.

Students those who graduated high school may attend university, college or junior college.
Students in technical school may transfer to university or college.
Students, those who acquired the Certificate for Students Achieving the Proficiency Level of Upper Secondary School Graduates, may also enter without graduation from high school.
Many universities and colleges require them to take the National Center Test for University Admissions.

To receive a bachelor's degree, most students study for four years.
Junior college students study for two years and receive an associate degree.
Graduates from university or college can then go on to study for a master's degree, which usually take two years, and later a doctorate degree.
