The Age of Discovery
Situation: A woman seems like a teacher. She gives her students a short overview of this semester.
The Age of Discovery is a period when European powers took to the seas in search of various trading goods.
We're going to start by looking at how the Portuguese found a trade route to Asia and how Vasco da Gama reached India.
Next, we'll be looking at how the Spanish had Christopher Columbus across the Atlantic in 1492.
In the weeks after that, we'll be reading about how the Europeans extended their reach into Asia.
Through all this, I want you to keep in mind the broader impact of these discoveries.
Also, it was a time when the colonizing powers ruthlessly exploited native cultures.
Situation: A TEACHER (FEMALE) gives her students a short overview of this semester.
The Age of EXPLORATION is a period when SEVERAL European powers took to the seas in search of various trading goods.
Next, we'll be looking at how the Spanish had Christopher Columbus CROSS the Atlantic in 1492.
In the weeks after that, we'll be reading about how the Europeans LATER extended their reach into Asia.
"The Age of Discovery"だとヨーロッパ中心の考え方だから、今は"Age of Exploration"と呼ぶ人もいるのよね。
