"Look"cried Emily.
"A boy in the canoe was paddling near the whale."
As the whale breached again,the canoe began to tip in the wave.
The boy tried to keep it steady,but rocked wildly.
The sled dipped lower.They were so close now that they could almost touch the whale's rough skin.
"We're going under!"shouted Matt.He shut his eyes.
He could almost feel the icy water.But he didn't.
"Matt!"cried Emily."Open your eyes.We're safe.Just turn the sled.We're heading for shore."
"Hurray!"shouted Matt as they landed on a pebbly beach.
"Phew"said Emily.
