A comic book, jointly produced by Japan's Kadokawa Group
Publishing Company and a local Chinese publisher, has fone on sale.
To protect its domestic publishing industry, the Chinese goverments
has restricted the release og foreign comic books translated
into Chinese.
The new comic book is published without restridtions because it
is drawn by a Chinese artist.
Based on a bestselling series of Japanese novels, the book
features a high school girls as the central character. The novels
have also been made into a series of animated films in Japan.
Young people in the southern provice of Guangzhou have flocked
to a bookstore to buy copies of the comic book.
The publication of the book highlights a new way of selling Japan's
popular manga culture in China.
The publisher said the system could serve as anti-piracy measure
while offering an inroad into the huge Chinese market.
