The origin of furoshiki was written in the book that I was reading.
"Apparently, it comes from "furo"(bath) and "shiki"(sheet), because people long ago used it when taking a bath."　
Arabesque pattern with that I was familiar in childhood, it seemed to have introduced from ancient Egypt to Japan via China in Edo Period.
The person who carries furoshiki is not seen recently.
