According to this article,It is said that they are allegedly lying about their ties to China's military.

Unfortunately,they engaged in research activities in the US with one of them working as researcher at Stanford University.

So The FBI has doubt that the Chinese government has been sending military scientists and researchers to the US universities to seal its secret information due to Three of them had been arrested in June or July.

Furthermore,The other allegedly had fled to the Chinese consulate in San Francisco after being questioned by FBI agents on June 20.

As the result of the US doubt China,the US government recently ordered China to close its consulate in Houston.
