Question:Why would Sony showed off EV prototype?
According to this article,it is one of plans for self-driving.
In fact,the electronic maker is developing the self-driving EV as a platform for its state-of-the art imaging sensors and other technologies.

The vehicle has 33 sensors that support self-driving. They read road conditions, locations of buildings and the driver's movements and facial expressions.

However,the current prototype needs a driver,although Sony's goal is to have a fully autonomous vehicle.

Furthermore,the company also plans to install a screen and high-quality audio equipment to provide occupants with a wealth of entertainment while on the road.

Hopefully,The company wants to test the car on public streets in Japan, the United States and Europe by the end of the current fiscal year to refine its sensor technologies.

Moreover,The company seems be looking forward to make a dream of the digital transformation for self-driving platform as Mobility as a service through the enable of acquiring data on weather and road surfaces,and so on.
