Question:Why would US troops in Afghanistan have been reduced since hit the lowest number in 2001?
According to this article,the latest figure is down from the 4,500 reported in November last year and marks the lowest since 2001,which the US launched military operations in Afghanistan.

The US military operations will be completed by Friday ahead of the inauguration of the new administration of Joe Biden.

However,fighting between Afghan government forces and the Taliban have still continued despite a peace agreement struck in February 2020 between Washington and the Taliban militant group.

Unfortunately,the talks,which have been negotiated between the two sides in September last year,have been stalled over terms of an agreement and other issues.

As the result,the move will further deteriorate the security situation in Afghanistan.
