desperate(adj) - willing to do anything to change a very bad situation, and not caring about danger

furnish(v) - to put furniture and other things into a house or room

rent(n) - the amount of money you pay for the use of a house, room, car, etc. that belongs o someone else
steep(adj) - steep prices, charges etc. are unusually expensive
split(v) - to divide sth into separate parts, so that two or more people each get a part
utilities(n, plural) - a service such as gas or electricity provided for people to use
pump(n) - a machine for forcing liquid or gas into or out of sth
lease(n) - a legal agreement that allows you to use a car, building etc. for a period of time, in return for rent
commitment(n) - a promise to do sth or to behave in a particular way
deposit(n) - the first part of the money that you pay for sth, especially sth large or expensive, so that it will not be sold to someone else
