On the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones Industrial Average has topped 30,000 points for first time.
The index hit the milestone on Tuesday.
The Dow hit a record high in February but began to plunge later that month due to the coronavirus outbreak. It recovered thanks to massive monetary easing.
Share prices in New York have been rallying in recent weeks on expectation that coronavirus vaccines will be developed soon, and broke the record set in February.
The rally was boosted by investor optimism after the US General Services Administration gave president- elect Joe Biden formal approval to begin the transition of power.
