Other ways businesses can help support charities include donating services, goods or time. Historically, nonprofit have received nearly a third of their charitable donations during the month of December. In recent years, this flurry of contributions has begun on Giving Tuesday. That’s an online campaign that takes place after Thanksgiving.
How would you day nonprofits are faring these days?
Many are in trouble. Organizations serving the Black and Indigenous communities and other people of color are having an especially hard time. Covid-19 has taken a disproportionate toll on these communities, making their needs greater.
Some people see charity as a religious or moral obligation, regardless of their personal economic circumstances. But for some, giving is a luxury rather than a necessity, and it can be put on hold when times get tough.
But at the same time, there’s evidence that people rise to the occasion, that they try to help others deal with the hardships that recessions cause. There’s been an impressive rise in giving to nonprofits such as food banks and homeless shelters that provide essential social services.
A&A has long been a staunch supporter of the nation’s food banks. They’ve played an essential role in distributing emergency food relief in the United States for more than 50 years.
They’ve become more visible than ever before during the pandemic.
