B: Hey,is that Oki-no-Shiraishi?
A: I think so. Oki-no-Shiraishi is near the center of the lake.
B:I see. I still can't believe how big this lake is!
A: I'm Akiko. Today,Ben and I are on a boat on lake Biwa in Shiga Prefecture.
This boat does a one-day tour around Lake Biwa' Islands.
B: Akito, what was the name of the first island we went to?
A: Okishima.
B: Oh, right. And this is called Oki-no-Shiraishi. Thet sound similar, but Okishima is bigger.
A: It's the biggest island on Lake biwa. About 280 people live there in Japan. It is the only island on a lake that people live on. Oki-no-Shiraishi is actually just a group of large rocks.
B: So can we go on those rocks?
A: I don't think so.
B: Too bad. I wanted to juggle on top of the rocks.

N: Ben and I are a street performance duo called A and B. We are traveling around Japan to become better performers.
W: Hello! Is this your first time visiting Lake Biwa?
A: Yes.
W: Well then, let me give you a quiz. How big is Lake Biwa?
A: Hmm Is it about half the size of Sika prefecture?
B: I think it's bigger. It must cover about 70% of Shiga.
W: No, Lake Bewa covers only about 16% of Shiga prefecture.
A: Really?! I thought it was bigger.
w: Well it is the biggest lake in Japan. Most of the water used in the Kansai area is taken from Lake Biwa. if people say bad things about Shiga, we say,"We're going to stop Lake Biwa's water.
B: You can stop the water ?
W: No,no,.It's just a joke.
B: Oh,Okey! Anyway,can you tell us about the next island,Chikubujima?

W: Sure. I think most people from shiga have been to it. Since a long time ago, people have said that gods live there.
A: Wow.
N: We arrived at Chikubujima. After walking around for a while, we stop at a place with a nice view.

B: Hey, what's that? People are throwing things.
A: That's "kawarake" throwing.
B: "kawarake? What's that?
A: Kawarake is a small white plate made of clay. You write your wish on it and throw it toward that torii gate down there. If it goes through the torii, your wish will come true.
B: Let me tryit! My wish is to become the best street performaer in the world! Oh, no!
A: Haha. To become the best, you'll have to work much harder!
B: Oh, don't tell me what to do!
N: After leaving Chikubujima, we go to Takashima.
B: This island is really strange.It looks like a different island from each direction.
A: Yeah. It's famous for that. And thw whole island is a temple.
B: Really? Actually, this whole lake feels like a temple to me.
A: Ah,maybe you're right.
N: Soon, the sun goes down. The view is amazing! It's too bad we can't stay at Lake Biwa longer.
