Lyons : There Have been so many changes to everyday life. Universities have been moving courses online, business are asking employees to be cyber commuters and work from home, and shoppers are placing orders for groceries online to spend less time in crowded spaces.
日常生活に、ほんとうに多くの変化が起きました。大学は、講義をオンラインに移していますし、企業は従業員にサイバー通勤者になって、在宅勤務をすることを求めていますし、買い物客は、混雑した場所で過ごす時間を減らすために、食料品や雑貨をオンラインで注文しています。

Ueda : Some states have taken steps to make it possible for people to apply for unemployment insurance online. But of course to do that, you need access to he web, and you have to know how to fill out and sign forms online and send them. Not everyone has that degree of cyber literacy, unfortunately.
州によっては、失業保険のオンライン申請を可能にするための策を講じたところもあります。でも、もちろん、オンライン申請をするためには、インターネットへの接続が必要ですし、オンライン用紙に記入して署名し、送信する方法を知っていなければなりません。残念ながら、だれもがそこまでのサイバーリテラシーがあるわけではありませんね。

Nissen :The digital divide also reflects class divisions in America society. People generally don't like to talk about them, but they're very real. Lower-income people are less likely to have fast, reliable broadband connections. This has put them at a distinct disadvantage during the coronavirus crisis.

■ Say What You Mean
⓵ When we submit an order for something, we (place) an order for that thing. For example, "I (placed) an order yesterday for more printer paper."
何かを発注する時には、その何かのために、 place an order する。たとえば、「わたしは昨日、さらに多くの印刷用紙を注文した」など。

⓶ Entering information in the blank spaces on a form is to (fill) out that form. Such as " I (filled) out the application for permanent residency and submitted it last week."
用紙の空欄に情報を記入することは、その用紙にfill out することである。　たとえば、「わたしは、永住権の申請書に記入して、それを先週提出した」のように。

③ This vignette uses (distinct) to mean definite and obvious. Things like "These are (distinct) differences between the two focus groups."
このビニェットでは、distinct を、確実で明白な、という意味で用いている。たとえば、「この２つのフォーカスグループには、明確な違いがある」というように。
