With an eye towards the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, land prices are rising in Japan, with a district in Tokyo hitting a record high.
On Monday, the National Tax Agency released land price assessments as of January 1st. The figures are used to calculate inheritance and gift taxes.
Land in a part of Tokyo's Ginza district is nearly 360,000 dollars a square meter. The area has been Japan's most expensive for 32 years. And it jumped 26 percent in yen terms from last year, following redevelopment projects for the Olympics.
Nationwide, prices rose by an average of 0.4 percent. That's a second consecutive annual increase. It comes as big cities and resorts see more construction of hotels and other facilities as foreign tourists flock to Japan.

２０２０年のオリンピック・パラリンピックを見越して、日本では路線価が上昇し、東京のある場所では過去最高額となりました。
月曜日（７月３日）、国税庁は１月１日の時点で算定した路線価を公表しました。路線価は、相続税や贈与税を計算するのに使われます。
東京の銀座地区の一部では、１平方メートル当たりの路線価が３６万ドル近く（４０３２万円）もします。ここは３２年間にわたって日本で最も路線価が高い場所で、オリンピック（・パラリンピック）に向けた再開発事業を背景に、円換算で去年より２６パーセントも上昇しました。
全国の平均の路線価も（去年より）０.４パーセント上がって、２年連続の上昇となりました。外国人旅行者が日本に押し寄せてくることを見込んで、大都市圏やリゾート地でより多くのホテルや施設などが建設されているためです。

Ａ：　Who is going to reserve the banquet room ?
Ｂ：　Not me. No one told me which hotel to call.
Ａ：　I think Rob knows !
Ｂ：　Well, then, he should do it !

Ａ：　招待状は出したの？
Ｂ：　君がすると思ってた。
Ａ：　あれはあなたの仕事よ！
Ｂ：　ロブが招待客名簿をくれなかったんだ！

Ａ：　That doesn’t mean anything.

Ｂ：　Yuki ! Don’t ! Everybody is watching !
Ａ：　Come with me; it won’t hurt you to make a new friend.

Ａ：　彼女をランチに誘いましょうよ。
