機内 の 医師（2）
「チャックサルマンズがニューヨークに戻る飛行機の中で経験したことを話していました。彼の乗った便は数時間遅れていて、機内は満席でした。ようやく地上走行し始めた時に、隣の席の乗客が意識を失っているようだと気づいたのです。機内アナウンスで医師が搭乗していないかどうかを尋ねたのですが、残念ながら搭乗していませんでした。」
Summary
Salmans says the plane returned to the terminal. And McMillan expresses relief that the incident didn't occur while the plane was in the air. Collins says her uncle is a doctor who often travels and has responded to a number of in flight medical situations. Collins and McMillan describe the physical strain traveling can cause through such things as carrying have back in a crossing time zones.
Ueda: I assume the plane headed back to the terminal?
Salmans: Yes. As soon as we reached it, an emergency crew came on board with a stretcher and took the sick man away. It shook me up, I’m not ashamed to say. I really hope he was OK.
McMillan: He might have had a heart attack or a stroke. Lucky that didn't happen while the plane was in flight. The pilot would have had to reroute the aircraft and make an emergency landing somewhere.
Collins: My uncle is a medical doctor and *the chairman of a regional medical association. He travels quite often to attend conventions to act and conferences. He says he's responded to five in-flight medical incidents. Three of them were real emergencies.

Collins: He says most medical emergencies are caused by pre-existing medical conditions or acute illness, But it's also important to remember that flying is a strain on the body. In fact, the whole travel experiences can be quite taxing. You may carry heavy luggage over long distances between terminals, and you have to deal with security checks
