　Crapaud, ou plutôt grenouille, de 2 m de haut ?
Dressé sur ses pattes arrière, celui-ci fait preuve d’un grand bon sens,
quand il s’adresse à Katagari, modeste employé d’une société de
recouvrement de dettes.
Cet anti-héros ne paye certes pas de mine, mais par son courage et sa
détermination, il contribue à sauver Tokyo.
　Peut-être faut-il voir dans ce souci du bien commun un écho à la common
　decency de G. ORWELL, auteur cher à MURAKAMI, qui émaille son récit
　de références à des auteurs occidentaux comme CONRAD, NIETZSCHE et
　DOSTOÏEVSKI.

　Superfrog Saves Tokyo
　"You know Mr. Frog, I'm just an ordinary person."
　"Make that 'Frog,' please," Frog said, but Katagiri let it go.
　"I'm an absolutely ordinary guy. Less than ordinary. I'm going bald, I'm getting
a potbelly, I turned 40 last month. My feet are flat. The doctor told me recently
that I have diabetic tendencies. It's been three months or more since I last slept
with a woman—and I had to pay for it. I do get some recognition within the division
for my ability to collect on loans, but no real respect. I don't have a single person
who likes me, either at work or in my private life. I don't know how to talk to people,
and I'm bad with strangers, so I never make friends. I have no athletic ability, I'm
tone-deaf, short, phimotic, nearsighted—and astigmatic. I live a horrible life. All I do
is eat, s1eep and shit. I don't know why I'm even living. Why should a person like me
have to be the one to save Tokyo?"

"Because, Mr.. Katagiri, Tokyo can only be saved by a person like you.
And it's for people like you that I am trying to save Tokyo."

　Estoy volviéndome calvo, estoy engordando, cumplí 40 el mes pasado.
　Tengo pies planos. Hace poco el doctor me dijo que tengo tendencia a
　 la diabetes. Han pasado tres meses desde que me acosté con una mujer -
　 y tuve que pagar para ello. Tengo algo de reconocimiento en mi división
　por mi habilidad para cobrar los préstamos, pero no verdadero respeto.
　No tengo una sola persona a la que yo le guste, ya sea en mi trabajo o en
　mi vida privada. No sé como hablar con la gente, y soy pésimo con los
　extraños, así que nunca hago amigos. No tengo habilidades atléticas,
　no oigo bien, soy bajo, fimótico, corto de vista y astigmático.
　 Mi vida es horrible. Todo lo que hago es comer, dormir e ir al baño.
　Ni siquiera sé porqué estoy vivo. ¿Por qué una persona como yo tiene
　que ser la que salve Tokio?"
