　receive「受け取る」は、get よりも硬いフォーマルな表現です。

　現在完了形が使われているのは、
　それが「今、出られない」という状況につながっているから。
　次の文の That’s why I can’t go.「だから今、出られない」と
　滑らかにつながっています。

I’m afraid I won’t be able to attend this afternoon’s meeting.
One of my most important clients has asked to meet me urgently.
Apparently, his company’s profits fell dramatically last quarter, so he wants some advice.

　「だから今、ミーティングに行けないのだ」と
　現在に焦点がある、というわけです。
