Let’s get started with day Five for the month of January.
Hi, everyone!
I’m Steve Soresi.
And I’m Jenny Skidmore.
Thanks for joining us.
Taiwa Karaoke Advanced!
Here’s the scene for today’s Taiwa Karaoke.
Let’s have a ten-turn conversation together.
Are you ready?
Here we go!
Time’s up.
Here we go!
Just a minute!
Hi, how can I help you?
Hi, I’m your new neighbor, Takeshi.
Oh, welcome to our condo!
I’m Kate and this is my son, Henry.
Nice to meet you.
Nice to meet you, Kate and Henry.
Oh, I brought these from Japan for my new neighbors here in the condo.
Actually, this one is for you.
Oh, thank you.
The packaging’s so pretty.
So, what is it?
These are soba noodles.
People give them to new neighbors in Japan.
It’s kind of a custom.
The long noodles symbolize a hope for a long and stable relationship.
What a great gift!
My husband and I are so into everything Japanese.
Great!
I’m so glad to hear that.
And where are you from in Japan?
I’m from a place called Higashi-machi.
It’s just outside of Tokyo.
Have you ever been to Japan?
We travel to Japan often.
We love it.
So, what brought you here?
Business or family in the area?
My older sister lives near hear.
She told me about this nice city and sounds this condo.
I see.
Just let me know, if you need anything.
By the way, do you like carrots?
Yes. I love vegetables.
I have vegetable smoothies every morning.
I got a lot of carrots in the garden today.
So I’m sharing them with everyone.
Here, have a few carrots!
Thank you.
I’ll use one in my morning smoothie tomorrow.
We have a community garden.
Everyone grows vegetables, herbs and even fruit.
It’s a lot of work, but it’s worth it.
Would you like to try it some day?
I’d love to.
Next time you go, let me know.
OK, did you understand our conversation?
This month’s theme is “Condo Life”.
Start!
Time’s up.
Well, how did you do?
Your conversation skills are getting better day by day, and week by week.
This month’s theme is “Condo Life” 「初めての長期滞在」.
So, see you next time on Eikaiwa Time Trial.
Bye-bye!
