Give Blood (1)

Hi, folks. Are you ready to roll up your sleeves, step forward and give blood?
Of course, Tim. We have nothing to offer but blood-as well as toil, tears and sweat.
Thank you, Kyohei. Welcome to A&A’s corporate blood drive event. Blood is needed every minutes, every day of the year.
WE all came to pitch in, Tim. Thank you for serving as the chair of this year’s blood donor program. How’s it going?
Well, this year’s campaign couldn’t be more timely. The world is experiencing a severe blood shortage. Here in the U.S., the shortfall is the worse it’s been in more than 10 years. At one point last year, blood centers across the country reported less than a day’s supply of certain critical blood types.
Is there a shortage of all blood types?
Yes, but particularly Type O, which is the most common blood type in the U.S.-about 37% of the population. The second-most common is Type A, as I learned in the familiarization course I took.
I’m Type A, which is the most frequent blood type in Japan-about 40% of the population.
Gee, I’m impressed you know our own blood type, Kyohei, because I don’t. Should I?
Not really. That’s your doctor’s responsibility. No doctor will perform a blood transfusion on you without checking your blood type first.
