【成人の日】Coming Of Age Day
アメリカやイギリスなどの英語圏では、成人を迎えた若者を祝福する日本のような「成人式」をすることはありません。ですから、成人式に当たる英語はもともとない…とも言われています。


the national holiday that honors people who become 20 years old, falls on the second Monday in January. People can enjoy a three-day weekend and the day will not fall on a Sunday.
「成人の日」は満20歳に達した若者を祝う国民の祝日で1月の第2月曜日がこの日に当たります。この祝日が日曜日と重なることはなくなり、前々日の土曜日から3日続きの連休を楽しむ人が多くなりました。
When a person reaches 20 years of age, they are considered to be an adult in Japan.　
日本では、20才になると大人と見なされます。
Drinking alcohol is permitted from this age.　
アルコール類を飲むことがこの年齢から許可されます。
The minimum voting age has been lowered to 18 from 20 since 2016.

新成人を祝う儀式として、成人式が行われます。

1月の第2月曜日には、各市町村が新成人を招き成人式が開催されます。
Normally you will attend the coming of age ceremony of your hometown.
出身地域の成人式に出席するのが一般的です。
Coming of age ceremonies are usually held at public halls. Depending on the area in Japan.
成人式は区・市民会館などで行われるのが一般的です。

多くの新成人は、成人式の日に同窓会に参加します。
Women wear furisode on the Coming of age ceremony.
女性たちは、成人式で振袖を着ます。
The special feature of furisode are the long sleeves. Furisode give the most spectacular impression out of all kimono types.
振袖の特徴は、袖丈が長く、着物の中でも華やかな印象を与えます。
Furisode are worn by unmarried women only. Nowadays furisode are the most prestigious dress for unmarried women to wear.
振袖は未婚女性が着る着物です振袖は、現代では未婚女性が着る最も格式高い礼装とされています。
Wearing furisode at a coming of age ceremony symbolizes a fresh start in your life. It also symbolizes getting rid of the bad and attracting the good.
成人式に振袖を着ることは、人生の門出に身を清めるという意味を持つようになりました。この他、厄払い、良縁を呼び込むという意味も込められているのです。
While it is nice that we don’t have to wear kimono all the time nowadays, that also means that when we do wear one we get very tired. Many layers are worn, and the obi (belt) is tied very tightly.
普段、着物を着ないので嬉しい反面、着物の下に何枚も薄い着物を着てから帯をきつく縛るので、いつもよりも疲れてしまいます。
Some people purchase their furisode, and some rent one. For a furisode on the cheaper side it would cost around 100,000 yen for a full set. A higher class furisode can costs millions of yen. The cost of renting a kimono depends on which kimono you rent.
振袖は買う人もいれば、レンタルで済ませる人もいます。振袖は安いもので全部セットのもので10万円くらいからあります。高級な振袖なら数百万円のものまで様々です。レンタルする場合も着物によって値段の差があります
The furisode worn by girls at the coming of age ceremony can later be worn at someone’s wedding.
女性の振袖は、成人式の後でも誰かの結婚式に着ることもできます。

1 時を表す前置詞として適切なものを選ぶ。the morningを導く前置詞としては、通常inが用いられる。しかし、ここではthe morning of December 11（12月11日の午前）とmorningに具体的な日付を表す句が続いている。このような場合、前置詞は日付との結び付きが優先されてonが用いられる。
