I love to take a walk in there hearing the birds singing. But the place is a little dangerous. In the botanical garden located in the foot of a mountain named Taiheizan, Asian black bears appear sometimes. I bumped into the one in there two years ago. The number of bears that appear in the territory of human has been increased recently. It is said that the border between humans and animals is getting obscure, because people neglect to maintain the mountains around residential area. On top of that, the number of some kind of animals is increasing. The human beings are invaded by animals in many depopulated areas.

Bear has Eye Surgery
Veterinarians in Japan have conducted a rare surgery, a cataract operation on a bear. The operation has enabled twenty-year old Asian black bear to regain its eyesight. The lucky animal named Nobita lives in a bear park in the city of Noboribetsu, in the northernmost prefecture, Hokkaido. He has not been on show to visitors since going blind a decade ago. But that could change after the operation in July. The veterinarians say Novita’s surgery was successful. The bear has recovered with no complications. Park officials say Novita is now seeing things for the first time in ten years. He’s able to find food more easily and can follow his keeper’s movements with his eyes. We are glad to see Novita is acting so lively, one official said, we are studying whether a brown bear in our facility can also undergo cataract surgery.
