One of the things that I would have liked to do was studying abroad. Overseas travel was becoming common when I was a university student, but studying in a foreign country was rather still difficult. Nowadays most universities have their own study abroad or student exchange programs and encourage the students to have global study experience. However one of the problems is the cost. As a part of my job, I searched for tuitions of U.S. colleges and it made me stunned. They were ridiculously high. For example, average private schools require more than 3 million yen and many of them require 4 or 5 million yen or more.
I gave up studying abroad mainly because of financial situation, but if I did, it was much cheaper. I felt that what I lost was an opportunity cost.
