[Workplace Flexibility] (1,2,3) -Lesson 22 /Business Communication in Action-
Paul Pearson: Hey, it's good to see you all. I haven't had time to have lunch with you lately because I've been so busy. Let's make it a free-for-all today. Feel free to talk about anything that's on your mind.
Chuck Salmans: If I may, Paul, I'd like to mention some high-profile cases where leading high-tech companies announced plans to bring remote workers back to the office. That's a reversal of their previous strategy of encouraging telecommuting. Where does Alex & Alex stand on this issue?
Pearson: I'm glad you asked that question. We'll keep encouraging telecommuting and workplace flexibility. But one tech company that's given up on telecommuting says bringing workers back to the office will lead to more collaboration and speed up production. I find that somewhat puzzling, given the huge improvement there's been in collaborative tools in recent years. Various could services that are now available make it easy for teams to communicate in a quick and organized way.
Linda Grace: Very true. Telecommuters now account for about 14 percent of A&A's workforce. And close to 20 million Americans have chosen to work part-time because they want a better work-life balance and more flexible work hours.
