NASA’s Juno Spacecraft　Approaches Jupiter
[JUNE 30 NEW YORK TIMES]
After traveling for five years and nearly 1.8 billion miles, NASA’s Juno spacecraft will announce its arrival at Jupiter with the simplest of radio signals: a three-second beep.
NASA expects the beep, marking the end of a 35-minute engine burn to slow the spacecraft down and allow it to be captured by Jupiter’s gravity, to arrive at Earth at 11:53 p.m. Eastern time next Monday.
The solar-powered craft will spend 20 months and 37 laps around the Jupiter studying the planet’s composition and history, then burn up in Jupiter’s atmosphere.

NASAの木星探査機ジュノーは5年間、ほぼ 18 億マイルの旅を経て木星に到着したことを無線信号：３秒のビープ音で知らせるだろう。
NASA は、35分間エンジンを噴射させ探査機を減速し、木星の周回軌道に入れる。そしてこのエンジン噴射完了の信号のビープ音を待ち望んでいる。東部時間で4日（月） 23:53(日本時間5日午前)である。
太陽光発電のこの探査機は今後20 ヶ月で３７周回し惑星の組成や太陽系誕生のなぞに迫りその歴史を調査した後、木星の大気中で燃え尽きる。
