The business world is constantly coming up with new terms for emerging concepts and technologies in the field of digital innovation. Many of them have been created by adding the-tech suffix to a word. So we have fintech, wealthtech, femtech, agritech, edtech and so on. New ones keep emerging, but most are self-explanatory. Fintech is probably the most widely known of these neologisms. It refers to any business that uses technology to enhance or automate financial services and processes.
Femtech thas been catching on fast, too-software or electronic devices that use technology to support women’s health. It also promotes the participation of women in STEM.
Right. And now there’s agetech, which is built around the needs and wants of older adults. Agetech can be any kind of technology that improves the lives of seniors. It’s also known as silvertech or gerontech. Our Business Development team is actively looking for opportunities in this filed, so I’d like to hear what you folds know about this new technology.
One thing I’ve noticed is that older adults are adopting technology at a record pace. More and more of them are using the internet, along with smartphones, tablets and wearables. Seniors are the fastest-growing category of e-commerce shoppers. They buy groceries, books and just about everything else online. Older adults are willing to use new tech-based products and services-as long as they find them useful.
