Appreciating Humor (1)
I’m sick and tired of seeing bogus news stories and hoaxes online. We’re also being bombarded with fake emails. What can marketers do about fame ads, press releases and news stories? They are so annoying.
And then there are the malicious messages sent by cyber-thieves who want to steal our personal information.
It’s maddening, isn’t it? Some of the most sophisticated email hoaxes include fake pictures. With today’s digital technology, it’s all too easy to warp reality. I’m skeptical of all mass emails. They’re a waste of time and can cause needless alarm.
Not all fake posts and emails are malicious. Many are supposed to be funny. It’s like every day is April Fools’ Day on the internet. I prefer humor that’s gently absurdist, or just silly-the kind that doesn’t hurt anybody.
Americans seem to be infatuated with the April Fools’ Day tradition. Why is that?
Well, you could say April Fools’ Day is a unifying factor in our diverse and complex society. Sharing a joke and laughing can be a bonding experience for people who work together. Joking around is no laughing matter-wisecracks can lift your spirits.
April Fools’ Day jokes may be the perfect antidote for some people.
