Superfrog saves Tokyo
Katagiri found a giant frog waiting for him in his apartment.
It was powerfully built, standing over six feet tall on its hind legs.
A skinny little man no more than five-foot-three, Katagiri was
overwhelmed by the frog's imposing bulk.
"Call me 'Frog;" said the frog in a clear, strong voice. Katagiri
stood rooted in the doorway, unable to speak.
"Don't be afraid, I'm not here to hurt you. Just come in and
close the door. Please:'
Briefcase in his right hand, grocery bag with fresh vegetables
and tanned salmon cradled in his left arm, Katagiri didn't dare
move.
"Please, Mr. Katagiri, hurry and close the door, and take off
your shoes:'
The sound of his own name helped Katagiri snap out of it.
He closed the door as ordered, set the grocery bag on the
raised wooden floor, pinned the briefcase under one arm, and
unlaced his shoes. Frog gestured for him to take a seat at the
kitchen table, which he did.

The Tensho Earthquake that occurred in 1585 can be said to be the
most striking example of how a natural disaster changed Japanese
history.
It was a huge earthquake that occurred in the Chubu region of Japan
on January 18, 1586.
The biggest victim was Hideyoshi, who was trying to unify the country.
Nagahama Castle on the shores of Lake Biwa, which had been the castle
for a long time, liquefied, and the then lord of the castle, Kazutoyo
Yamauchi lost his daughter who was one off the victims.
According to the records of the missionary Louis Frois, Hideyoshi, who was
staying in Otsu City at this time, was not present for the time being.
He canceled all plans for the disaster and evacuated immediately to Osaka
Castle, which was considered the safest place.
The Mino, Owari, and Ise regions where the Hashiba army was supposed to
deploy suffered severe damage, and their war preparations were shredded.
Ieyasu's Okazaki Castle was also damaged, but the tremor within the territory
was said to have been a magnitude 4 on the Japanese scale.
If this earthquake had not happened, Ieyasu would have been attacked by
Hideyoshi's large army two months later.
There was also the possibility that the Tokugawa family would fall.
