From the end of April to the beginning of May there are a lot of holidays, so we have seven straight days off, including weekends.
Compared with Western countries, Japan is said to have fewer holidays and because of this children and adults alike are looking forward to this long period of days off.
It is called ‘Golden Week’. I hear golden means wonderful like gold and I think this period really wonderful in that all family members go out for leisure because offices and schools are off.
But Golden Week is lonely this year because we must refrain from going out to prevent coronavirus infection.
