feelは［感触､感じ］という意味なので､get a feel for~で「～からの感じ･イメージをつかむ」となりまる。

今晩のレセプションでは､当社のCOOがスピーチをする予定です｡(COO: Chief Operating Officer 最高執行責任者)
due toというとdue to bad weather(悪天候のせいで)のように理由を表すフレーズとして使うことが多いですが ､be動詞を伴うと「何々する予定である」という意味になる。
intend to ～するつもりである
I intend to finish the analysis by the end of tomorrow.(明日中には分析を終えるつもりです｡)

ペリーの帰路は目的を達しての一人旅と考えれば充実していたかもしれませんね。
でもオランダでは冷遇されたそうです。
理由は江戸時代オランダが日本との貿易を独占していました。
それがアメリカに中に入られたということですから。
そしてアメリカに帰れば、自分を後押ししていた大統領が辞任していましたからやはり苦難ではあったようです。
