US President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin have wrapped up their first face-to-face summit in Geneva, Switzerland.
The meeting comes as relations between the two countries are said to be at their worst level since the end of the Cold War.
Biden is on a European tour. The meeting was held Wednesday afternoon at a lakeside mansion under tight security.
Issues have piled up between the two countries, including Russia's annexation of Crimea from Ukuraine, large-scale cyberattacks targeting US government agencies and Russia's alleged intervention in the US presidential election.
Biden intends to urge Russia to respond to these issues, while Putin is expected to rule out any government involvement in the cyberattacks or election intervention.
The two leaders have already suggested that they will seek dialogue in areas where the countries share interests, such as arms control and nuclear disarmament.
