Living With Covid-19 (2)
Tell us about your experience with the hybrid approach to work, Janet.
At first, I was often frustrated when I struggled to get to the office and join videoconferences with WFH and onsite colleagues. One day, Tim said he was completely drained after being in online meetings all day. “You think that’s bad?” I snapped at him. “At the end of my workday, I get on the subway, go home and feed two kids and take care of my husband!” I’m sorry I was so abrasive, Tim.
No need to apologize, Janet. I don’t even remember that. Anyway, it’s good that you were honest about how you felt. You should let your colleagues know if you’re feeling overwhelmed and exhausted by these new work arrangements. It’s OK to say you’re having a hard time maintaining a positive frame of mind. That’s brought unprecedented changes in how we live and work. Is finding a new normal in the workplace impossible? What might the future look like?
There’s still so much we don’t know about how our working environment will evolve in 2022. Despite all our best predictions, we don’t know what we don’t know. So, I think it’s best to keep our predictions, we don’t know what we don’t know. So, I think it’s best to keep our expectations low. What we do know is that public health issues will continue to dominate our lives.
Yes, it’s unrealistic to expect that Covid-19 will disappear. We need to learn how to live with it.
