What’s the topic of the debate in our next English class?
It’s Junior high school students should study one more foreign language. Yes or no.
Right. Do you like to debate. Personally, I don’t really like to take sides.
Really? I like debating. It’s fun to look at things from the opposite point of view.
You always have your own opinions and express your likes and dislikes clearly.
Don’t get me wrong. I have many things I can’t say honestly.
Really?
But unlike some people I can express my feelings to the boy I like.
Ha? I don’t know what you are talking about.
I don’t know what you are talking about.
I don’t know what Jane is so angry about.
I don’t know what I want for Christman.
I don’t know what the teacher wants us to do.
Do you like to debate?
We will debate the good points and bad points of manga in class today.
That was a heated debate.
Let’s take part in the debate tournament.
You’re so funny.
Whatever you say.
Let’s have a great week!
Should older students get special treatment?
In educational video about our school clubs would be so much better than the silly superhero video. Don’t you think?
I do. But Taiga’s the leader of the video club. It’s his decision.
Why?
It’s a school tradition.
In other words, that’s how we always do it. It’s a rule.
It’s not a rule. It’s custom. Usually, the leader of the club is in the last year of high school and chooses the final project.
That’s silly, too. Why should older students get special treatment?
Third year students are about to graduate. It’s the last chance to do something together.
That’s a pretty good reason, right?
I think we should choose the best idea, period.
But then some people might never get to do their idea. Everyone should have a turn. That’s fair.
I think everyone’s opinion is important, Mr. Arai. Voting is fair.
Hmm…yes, well, you have a point. I’ll talk to Taiga.
Thank you.
