昨晩、家族と一緒にテレビでバスケの試合を観戦しました。日本代表とアンゴラ代表の試合です。自宅でビールを飲みながら、ゴールデンタイムにバスケの試合が見られるなんて、贅沢ですね。私が子供の頃は想像できなかったことです。

バスケ好きの私と、バスケ初心者の息子と、バスケなんて興味の無かった妻と娘は、それぞれ勝手に言いたいことを言いながら楽しみました。

息子と娘は、選手同士が衝突するシーンに興奮していました。ラフプレイがあった訳ではなく、普通のディフェンスなんpですが、あの巨体がぶつかり合う衝撃に、びっくりしていました。「今のはこっちのファウルだ！」と勝手に審判を気取っていました。

妻は選手データを見て驚いていました。全員が大きいので試合を見ているだけではわかりませんが、データを見るとほとんどの選手が2m前後の身長です。伸び盛りの息子が、こんなに大きくなったらどうしようと、勝手に心配し始めました。

私といえば、拮抗した点の取り合いに、勝手に一喜一憂していました。日本代表がこんなハイレベルで、自信に満ち溢れた戦い方ができるなんて、感無量です。アンゴラの選手も、恵まれたフィジカルを活かした、豪快なプレイを繰り広げていました。

ワールドカップも家族で楽しもうと思います。


I watched a basketball game on TV with my family last night. A match between Japan and Angola. It's a luxury to be able to watch a basketball game during prime time while drinking beer at home. It was unimaginable back then.

I, who loves basketball, my son, who is a novice at basketball, and my wife and daughter, who have no interest in basketball, enjoyed themselves while saying what they wanted to say.

My son and daughter were thrilled to see the players clash with each other. They weren’t rough plays, they were normal defenses, but my son and daughter were surprised by the impact of those big bodies colliding. They yelled by their own judgement , "This is his foul!"

My wife looked at the player data. All of them are big, so you can't tell how tall they are just by watching the game. Looking at the data, most of the players are around 2m tall. My wife started worrying about what would happen if my growing son got too big.

As for me, I was overwhelmed with joy and sorrow at the point-of-match competition. I am overwhelmed with emotion that the Japanese national team can play at such a high level and with such confidence. Angola's players also showed great performances with their physical strength.

I also enjoy the World Cup with my family.
