ルーマニアの魔女〉 国内に2千人以上いるといわれる呪術師や占師で、多くは
少数派のロマ人とされる。
1965~89年のチャウシェスク独裁政権時代は冷遇され、投獄された魔女も
いた。
Mihaela Minca is one of the most famous witches in
Romania.
She and her coven – all women of the traditionally
itinerant Roma minority – live at the margins of
European society, in the suburbs of Bucharest.
There, they make a living through conducting
rituals that help their clients find love, money and
adequate punishments for their enemies.

The Romani people are also known by a variety of other names; in
English as gypsies or gipsies, and Roma; in Greek as γύφτοι (gíftoi)
or τσιγγάνοι (tsiggánoi), in Central and Eastern Europe as Tsingani
(and variants); in France as gitans besides the dated terms bohémiens
and manouches; in Italy as rom and sinti besides the dated terms zingari,
sigani and gitani; in Spain as gitanos; and in Portugal as ciganos.

The term "Roma" has come to include both the Sinti and Roma
groupings, though some Roma prefer being known as "Gypsies."
Some Roma are Christian and some are Muslim, having converted
during the course of their migrations through Persia, Asia Minor,
and the Balkans.

The official language of Romania is Romanian, a Romance
language with strong similarities to Italian.
Romania also has quite a few minority languages, including
Hungarian and Romani.
There's also a large Romanian diaspora, meaning that a lot
of Romanian people live abroad.
