【名詞】
first-ever victoryは「初勝利」です。
technical expertiseは「技術についての専門的知識（や技能）、専門的技術」です。

【動詞】
assign someone to ...は「～を～する仕事に就かせる」です。
cheer＋人＋upは「人を元気づける」、cheer on(for) ...は「（スポーツの応援で）～を声援する、励ます」です。
coincide with ...は「～と一致する」です。
come under ...は「～を受ける（主語にとって好ましくない事態を経験する）」です。
descend on(upon) ...は「（予告なく集団で）～を訪れる」です。descend「降りる」の反対語はascend「上昇する」です。
do one's bestは「ベストを尽くす」、do one's utmostは「全力を尽くす」です。
eat upは「大好きになる」という口語表現です。
have a negative effect on …は「～に悪影響がある」です。形容詞をpositive（良い）、long-term（長期的な）、profound（深遠な）、enduring（長期にわたる）などに入れ替えて応用できます。
hit the fieldは「試合に出る」、hit the road「出発する」です。
leave for ...は「～へ向けて出発する」です。地名が来る場合はtoではなくforを使います。
leaving nine people dead / injured / woundedは「９人を死亡／負傷状態にした」です。
lose weight / shed weight / slim downは「減量する」、gain weight / put on weightは「太る」です。
notch a win(victory)は「勝利を成し遂げる、達成する」です。
order someone to …は「～に～するよう命令する」です。
set a recordは「記録を作る」です。
take over ...は「～を引き継ぐ」です。
win the game 4-1(four to one)「試合に４対１で勝つ」です。
work outは「（ジムで）運動する、トレーニングする」です。

【その他】
[A] beat / defeated [B].は「ＡがＢに勝った」です。
among the first to ...は「～する最初の人々の中にいる、～するほぼ最初の人である」です。
at a depth of ...は「～の深さで」です。
Bon voyage!は「楽しい旅を！」です。
far and awayは「はるかに（引き離して）、断然」という口語表現で、書き言葉ではby farです。
This is not a request / suggestion. It's an order.で「要請（提案）ではない。命令だ」です。
through good times and bad (times) は「良いときも悪いときも」です。

【用法】
go for itは「頑張って、しっかりやって」で、行動するかどうかを迷っている人を励ます場合などに使います。Good luck!は「幸運を祈ります」というニュアンスが強くなります。（「頑張れ」にぴったり相当する英語は特にない）
less than [A]、またはmore than [A] という場合、Ａは含まれません。
体格指数（ＢＭＩ）30以上の人がobese「肥満」で、25－29.9はoverweight「太りすぎ」と言います。
