Influenza injection インフルエンザ予防注射

In New Zealand it is the season around now to receive a flu shot before winter arrives. My husband and I went to the medical centre where we normally go, and had our shots done from a nurse. My husband’s shot was free and mine was $25. We have been having flu shots for over 10 years now.

One winter many years ago, when we were living in a different house which was much older and inconvenient one, our family suffered from flu. It was a terrible experience! I don’t remember who got first, probably one of the children. Then the other child got the flu because our children are twins and good at sharing everything! Next my husband caught it from the children. I was the only one who didn’t catch a flu. Even now when I think about those two weeks, I cannot understand why I was safe from the flu virus that time.

In those days I didn’t have a habit of receiving flu vaccine like now. The only reason I can think of is I knew I had to be strong to look after three people and could not got sick. Probably from my high responsibility(?), my immune system jumped up. I don’t know , but I was lucky. That year, strains of virus affected particularly chests and my husband and the children were coughing all the time, complaining chest pains, no appetite, high fever…and it was pretty bad. They had to go to see a doctor at different time because their symptoms developed in different stages. I remember one late morning when I returned from a pharmacy (which required 30 minutes drive from home), the house was so cold but none of them were fit enough to get up to warm the house. It was a worrying time for me. But at last, after a week or 10 days, the children got better gradually and my husband was the last person to recover completely. Since that year, we never fail to receive a flu injection.

NZではもうすぐ冬になる前、今頃がインフルエンザ予防注射を受ける時期です。夫と私はいつも行くメディカルセンターで看護婦に注射してもらいました。夫は無料（病歴あり）、私は２５ドル。１０年以上も必ず毎年受けています。

ある冬、もうかなり前のこと、今よりずっと古い不便な家に住んでいました。その時、家族がインフルエンザに罹ってしまったことがあります。ひどい体験でした。誰が最初に罹ったのか覚えていませんが、多分子供の一人、そして双子はなんでもシェアするのが得意（？）なのですぐにもう一人の子供へ。そして夫へ。私一人がかかりませんでした。今でもそれは不思議に思っています。その２週間ほどのあいだ、何故私だけが免れたのでしょう？

当時は予防注射を受ける習慣は私はなくて、その年も受けていませんでした。多分考えられる一つの理由は、家族の3人の世話をしないといけないので、自分が病気になれなかったのだと思います。責任感が強くなって、一時的に免疫性が上がった？のかもしれません。とにかく、病気にならなくて私はラッキーでした。その年のインフルは、特に胸にきて、3人ともずーっと咳をしていました。胸の痛みを訴え、食欲は全くなく、熱も出て・・かなりひどかった。医者には、それぞれの症状の出方に差があるために、数日おきに行っていました。ある朝、私が薬局から薬をもらって帰ってくると（薬局まで車で３０分！）家の中は寒く、3人のうち誰一人として起き上がって、暖房をつける元気さえなかったのでした。本当に心配な日々でした。しかしようやくのこと、１週間か10日すると子供達が元気になり始め、夫は一番最後にやっと治りました。その年から、予防注射を欠かした年はありません。

Due case da una parte, due dall'altra. E una strada, sterrata e piena di buche, al centro. Non c'era una piazza. Non c'erano vicoli. C'erano però due panchine sotto una pergola di uva fragola e una fontanella che aveva il rubinetto con la chiave per non sprecare acqua. Tutto intorno i campi di grano.
L'unica cosa che si era guadagnata quel posto dimenticato da Dio e dagli uomini era un bel cartello blu con scritto in maiuscolo ACQUA TRAVERSE.

二つの家が向き合っている。道は中に一本。舗装されていなくて穴だらけ。公園の一つもない。小道もない。けれどいちごのパゴーラの下に椅子は二つある。鍵が蛇口にかかって水の出ない噴水もある。その周りは小麦畑だけだ。
神様からも他の人からも忘れられた土地、アクアトラヴェルセと書かれた青いサインだけ。
