Beethoven joke ベートーベンにまつわるジョーク
I like to listen to classical music sometimes. These days it is easy to find a good music through Youtube while working with my computer at the same time. The other day I was listening to Beethoven’s “Silence” on Youtube and there was a joke posted on the site. It is only funny in English and it maybe a little disgraceful for such a great composer. But any way, here it is:

When Beethoven passed away, he was buried in a churchyard. A couple days later, the town drunk was walking through the cemetery and heard some strange noise coming from the area where Beethoven was buried. Terrified, the drunk ran and got the priest to come and listen to it. The priest bent close to the grave and heard some faint, unrecognisable music coming from the grave. Frightened, the priest ran and got the town magistrate.
When the magistrate arrived, he bent his ear to the grave, listened for a moment, and said, "Ah, yes, that's Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, being played backwards."
He listened a while longer, and said, "There's the Eighth Symphony, and it's backwards, too. Most puzzling." So the magistrate kept listening; "There's the Seventh... the Sixth... the Fifth..."
Suddenly the realization of what was happening dawned on the magistrate; he stood up and announced to the crowd that had gathered in the cemetery, "My fellow citizens, there's nothing to worry about. It's just Beethoven decomposing."
私は、時々クラシック音楽を聴くのが好きだ。この頃は、コンピュータを使って仕事中に、youtubeで良い音楽を見つけて聴くこともある。先日、ベートーベンの「サイレンス」をyoutubeで見つけて聴いていたら、そこにはこんなジョークが投稿されていた。英語で読まないとおもしろくなく、しかも偉大な作曲家を冒とくするもののような気がしないでもないけれど、とにかくここでシェアします。

ベートーベンが亡くなった時、教会の墓場に埋められた。数日後、街の酔っ払いがそこを歩いていたら、ベートーベンの墓あたりから何か音が聞こえて来た。びっくりして、牧師を呼んで来て聞かせた。牧師は腰をかがめて聞いて見ると、墓から音楽らしきものが聞こえてくる。怖がって、牧師は街の裁判官を呼んで来た。
裁判官が到着すると、墓に耳を近づけ、しばし聴いた。それからこう言った。「ああ、そうだ。これはベートーベンの第九交響曲ですぞ。後ろから逆に演奏している。」
彼はもうしばらく聴いた。「次は、第八交響曲。これも後ろから。あー何と不思議なこと！」と裁判官は聴き続けた。「これは第七・・・これは第六・・・第五・・・」
突然に裁判官は全てがはっきりとわかった。彼は立ち上がって、墓に集まった皆にこう告げた。「皆さん、何も心配することはありませんぞ。ベートーベンがdecomposing しているだけなのです!」（ decompose とは、バラバラにすること、作曲する＝composeなのでその反対語。それと体などが土中で朽ちていくという意味のdecomposeをひっかけている）

一度、僕も北に連れていってくれると父は約束したことがある。北、というのがよく想像できない。北は金持ちで、南が貧乏ということはしっている。だから僕らも貧乏なんだ。母さんは、言っていた、父さんがこんなに真剣に働き続けてくれるなら、もうすぐ貧乏じゃなくなるって。だから、父さんが家にいなくても悲しんだらいけない。僕らのために働いているんだから。
youtubeのmusicで、Beethoven, silenceと検索してみて下さい。でてくると思います。ベートーベンは情熱的な曲の多い中で、これは静かなチューンです。
ところで、ベートーヴェンのサイレンスとはベートーヴェン作曲の静かな曲のピックアップということでしょうか？初めて聞きました。
はい、野菜の皮などは外の、専用のコンポスト容器にいれています。なぜか柑橘類とかは、コンポストによくないそうですが、羊がミカンやレモン、グレープフルーツなど皮を食べてくれます。
