Rotsu came all the way to Turuga to welcome me back,and
we journeyed together to the provience of Mino.The journey was
made easier by having horses to ride.When we arrived at Ogaki
manor we were joined by Sora,who and come from Ise.Etsujin
had also hurried here by horse,and we had a reunion at Joko's
house.All day and night dear friend---Zensenshi,Keio and his
son,and others---came to visit.They seemed as happy and solici-
tous as if they had encountered someone returned from the dead.
Before I had entirely recovered from the fatigue of the jour-
ney,I left on the sixth of the ninth month to witness the renewal
of the Great Shrine at Ise.As I once again boarded a boat,I wrote:


Dividing like clam
And shell,I leave for Futami----
Autumn is passing by.

やまざるに、長月六日になれば、伊勢の遷宮おがまんと、又舟にのりて、
