今日は「英語5分間トレーニング」の復習。

○ She got her eyes from her mother.

「似ている」のフレーズ。

「～の方が賢明である」今回のフレーズはこちらの意味。

ベッドの左側から起きるとその日は縁起が悪いという迷信があるそうです。

There is a long way to go. 「まだまだ先は長い。」

nerd の動詞は「人に対して馬鹿な真似をする」。名詞になると「おたく」という意味でも使えるようです。
nerdologist という言葉もあるようで、検索するとneurologist も一緒に引っかかってきました。スペルが似ていると言えば似ていますが、別物です。
我が家の少年は、game nerd でしょうか。受験生なのにかなりの余裕。
ほかのことを話したと思うと車とミリネタで一人舞い上がってます。
本日の新聞をみて「”きょうまく”ってなに？」と聞いてきました。
「胸膜」だとは思ったのだけど「漢字はなに？」と訊ねてみました。
答えに困っていたようなので助け船を。「lungの胸？、薬莢の莢？」。

我が息子は、しばし沈黙の後、
「この家に生まれてきたのがすべての始まりのような...」とつぶやいてました。
彼にもわかるいい例をあげれたと思ったのですが....。
