Protests in Myanmar seeking the release of the country's de facto leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, are growing over the weekend. She was detained after the military coup.
Protesters rallied in at least five places in the country's biggest city, Yangon, on Saturday, staging the largest demonstrations since the coup.
They chanted slogans against dictatorship, and demanded the release of all of the people detained.
Some raised the three-finger salute, a sign of resistance used by young anti government protesters in neighboring Thailand.
One protester said he does not want to go back to his childhood era under the military regime. he added that people must fight dictators.
Armed police were deployed near the demonstrations, but they only watched on Saturday.
The demonstrators were calling on each other to stage more protests on Sunday. They cannot use social media because internet connections are suspended.
The transport and communications ministry has ordered the country's telecommunications companies to suspend internet service until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday.
