M: Vicky! What’s up?
V: Hi, Mei. Just walking. I like to walk around the school.
M: Why?
V: Walking around our school makes me feel at home.
M: What do you mean?
V: I feel, “This is my school. I belong here.” I love the trees, the courtyards,
and all the facilities. I especially like the library. It’s easy to look up books.
Plus, it has so many fantasy novels!
M: Mm. Our school is special.
V: Why do you like it?
M: Well, first, I like the atmosphere. I have good friends and teachers.
This place feels good to me.
V: Me too.
M: Second, the clubs are outstanding. I love the dance club.

Ⅲ．Ａ Christmas Carol(72)　STAVE TWO　The First of the Three Spirits (28)
　When the clock struck eleven, this domestic ball broke up. Mr. and Mrs. Fezziwig took their stations, one on either side of the door, and shaking hands one with every person individually as he or she went out, wished him or her a merry Christmas. When everybody had retied but the two prentices, they did the same to them; and thus the cheerful voices died away, and the lads were left to their beds, which were under a counter in the back shop.
　During the whole of this time, Scrooge had acted like a man out of his wits. His heart and soul were in the scene, and with his former self. He corroborated everything, remembered everything, enjoyed everything, and underwent the strangest agitation. It was not until now, when the bright faces of his former self and Dick were turned from them, that he remembered the Ghost, and became conscious that it was looking full upon him, while the light upon its head burned very clear.

　時計が十一時を打つのをきっかけにこの家庭舞踏会は解散した。フェジウィグ夫妻は入り口の両側に立って、出て行く男女に誰彼の差別なくいちいち握手し、クリスマスの祝いを述べた。みんなが去ってしまうと、夫妻は二人の小僧だけにも、同じように握手をし同じようにクリスマスの祝儀を述べた。こうして喜ばしい声々も静まり、二人の小僧たちは店の奥の勘定台の下の寝床にもぐり込んだ。
　スクルージはこの間じゅうずっと分別をすっかり失った人のようにふるまっていた。彼は心も魂もこの場面に吸い込まれて、昔の自分と一緒になった。すべての事柄を確認し、すべてのことを記憶し、そして言いようもない不思議な感激をおぼえた。やがて、昔の自分とディックの晴れやかな顔が消え去った時、初めてスクルージは幽霊が自分の上にじいっと眼を据えているのに気がついた。幽霊の頭上には光が煌々と燃えていた。


◎つぶやき1：総裁選の候補者の色紙が並べられた画像がネットであげられてあった。なかに、およそ真面目に書いたとは思えないものがある。こういう感覚を持っている方には、国のリーダーにはなってほしくないと思うが、投票権を持つ党員の方々はどう見ているのだろうか。

◎つぶやき２：今朝は曇天で比較的過ごしやすいが、予報だとこの後30℃を超えるらしい。なかなか暑さが一段落しない。
