Have you heard of the “ ivory tower“ ?
This expression is often used to describe
the world of university professors.
Oxford Dictionary defines it as “A state of privileged seclusion
or separation from the facts and practicalities of the real world.”
Do professors live above the rest of society, doing research
with no connection to everyday life?
Some people think so, but this is an image many scholars are trying
to change.

この言い回しは、大学教授の世界を表すのによく使われます。

隔絶された、あるいは懸け離れた特権的な状態」とあります。
大学教授とは、世俗から超然として暮らし、日常生活とは何のつながりもない
研究をしているのでしょうか？
そう考える人もいますが、こうしたイメージを多くの学者が
変えようとしているのです。

I had some professors who I really respected to their sincere attitude,their lives and their passion for the study . I was so excited to open sirabas , I don’t know how to express it ,it means professor’s theme,presentation for students .

白い巨塔とかいうドラマで医学関係の学者の話が話題になりましたが、実際はどうなんでしょうか？
私の甥にもそういう関係の人がいますが、私にとっては話しやすい人です。
もっとも大学に入ったときから上の人に気に入られ後継者として認められた感じでした。
それを不満にも思わず、コツコツと努力する人ですから。
内部の事はあまり聞いた事はないですが。
