Ⅰ章 冠詞について

Ⅰ-6 不定冠詞の使い分けルール
あるものを「物質」としてとらえるか「形をなすもの」としてとらえるか。不定冠詞の有無によって受け手はそのもののイメージが変わる。

・I have a lot of paperwork to do. ペーパーワークがいっぱいあります。

→paperworkは、ここからここまでという輪郭のない漠然とした「業務/仕事」の形態のこと。数えられないので不可算名詞
数的に数えられなくても、量的に測ることはできる。不可算名詞の量の多さを表すのはmanyではなくmuchだが、可算名詞/不可算名詞、両方に使えるのがa lot of ～となる。

paperが束となった場合の数え方。two bundles of lettersのように可算名詞を束にして数えることもできる。
