[Virtual Reality and The Future of Travel] -Lesson 23 / Biz Communication-
Ueda Shota: I've been reading some articles about how the travel industry is changing. Interesting trends are shaking things up in a big way.
Steve Lyons: Indeed. I hear the experiential travel market has really taken off. More people are getting into what's known as voluntourism. You know, volunteering vacations where travelers choose to spend their holidays in a meaningful way. Many travel agencies now offer globetrotters innovative ways to support charitable causes all over the world.
Pat McMillan: That's very praiseworthy. Also, a lot of travelers are choosing more exotic destinations these days. For example, a friend of mine recently went on a cruise to Antarctica.
Lidia Grace: A couple I know decided to do something different last summer and went on a learning vacation. The idea is to spend your holiday time learning a new skill or improving existing ones. So my friend Barb studied photography, and her husband took an art course.
Ueda: Those are all great ways to spend your vacation time. But one recent innovation is transforming the travel industry in a revolutionary way: virtual reality. It's changing how we explore the world. Some people are calling it the new frontier of travel marketing.
