〇NEWS Quake-hit castle open to cherry blossom viewers
地震被害の熊本城　桜の名所を限定開放

People in the City of Kumamoto are welcoming spring after a particularly trying year. Many are still recovering from a series of earthquakes that struck southwestern Japan last April.

City officials have temporarily reopened part of the castle which was heavily damaged in the quakes.

The move comes just in time for the much-anticipated cherry blossom season.

Visitors can get a close-up view of walls that toppled in the shaking.

City officials anticipate it will take roughly 20 years to restore the castle.

〇熊本城は全体を２０年かけての復旧ということだが、天守閣は復興のシンボルとして、３年後の復旧を目指しているそうだ。この熊本城の「行幸坂」の一般開放、昨日、今日、そして来月１日と２日の合わせて４日間。
