ニュースで英会話（2011/10/10～） キーフレーズ復習

○ You shouldn't base your decision on his advice.

terminate はフォーマルな表現。terminate the contract 「契約を解除する」

タイムリーなことに、「complete って、終わりってこと？」と子供に聞かれたところ。英検参考書にゲームで見慣れた単語が出てきたんで、私に聞いたわけです。
子供にわかりやすいように、日ごろの皮肉も込めて、

perfect / completeは「きちんとやり終えること」（母さんはこれをのぞんでいるんだよ）
end / finishは 「結果はともあれ終えること」（とりあえず的な勉強はやめてくれ）

と説明したのですが、彼にとって英検はENDに終わった様子。はぁ。
