Le développement de la francophonie au Japon
日本におけるフランコフォニーの発展

Est-ce que la francophonie est présente au Japon ?
Pour répondre à cette question, il faut d'abord préciser si l'on parle de toutes les personnes qui savent parler le français au Japon, y compris les Japonais qui ont appris le français comme langue étrangère, ou si l'on parle seulement des étrangers issus de pays francophones vivant au Japon. Les chiffres ne sont pas les mêmes. Selon l'Observatoire de la langue française, 180 000 japonais en moyenne sont inscrits chaque année à des cours de français et le nombre de japonais francophones serait, par extension, d'environ 800 000. On remarque aussi qu'un grand nombre de commerces, pas seulement des boulangeries ou des restaurants, ont un nom français ou un nom qui mélange le français et l'anglais.

この質問に答えるには、まず、外国語としてフランス語を学んだ日本人も含めて、日本でフランス語を話せるすべての人のことを話題にしているのか、それとも、日本に住むフランス語圏諸国出身の外国人のことだけを話題にしているのかをはっきりさせる必要があります。それらの数字は同じではありません。フランス語研究機関によれば、毎年平均18万人の日本人がフランス語の授業に登録しており、そこから拡大して考えると、日本人フランス語話者は80万人程度になるだろうと思われます。また、パン屋やレストランだけではなく、多くの店がフランス語の名称やフランス語と英語を混ぜ合わせた名称を持っていることは注目に値します。

Que fait la communauté francophone du Japon pour promouvoir la langue française ?
Depuis 2010, il existe un Conseil pour la promotion de la francophonie au Japon qui regroupe une vingtaine d'ambassadeurs de pays francophones. De plus, chaque année, une journée de découverte de la Francophonie est organisée en décembre pour permettre aux lycéens et aux étudiants japonais de rencontrer des francophones du monde entier et d'en apprendre davantage sur les divers aspects de la francophonie.

フランス語普及のために、日本のフランス語話者共同体は何をしているのでしょうか? 2010年から「日本におけるフランコフォニー推進評議会」が存在し、フランス語圏諸国の２０名ほどの大使を結集しています。さらに、毎年、「フランコフォニーを発見す る日」が12月に開催され、日本の高校生や大学生が世界中のフランス語話者と出会い、 フランコフォニーのさまざまな側面についていっそう学ぶことができます。

☆応用編は次回から新講座となります。昔の有名な作家の文章を読んで、どのようにことばを使っているか、考えていくそうです。最初は、ジャン・ド・ラ・ブリュイエールという17世紀の作家のLes Caractères 『ひとさまざま』の文章を読みます。人間の性格や社会の様子を鋭く、時にユーモラスに描写した作品で、今から300年以上も前の人ですが、その文章は今でも変わらず私たちの心を打つものなのだそうです。私には難しい講座だと思いますが、少しでも理解できるように聞いてみたいと思っています。
